Campitos Turquoise
Mined in MexicoÂ
Campitos Turquoise was mined extensively in ancient times, with evidence of trade with Native American peoples. The Toltecs and Aztecs left much evidence of the importance of turquoise to these cultures. Campitos is unique in several ways. It grows in clay as free-form nuggets, rather than as veins which is typical of many North American turquoises. Its color is said to most closely resemble Sleeping Beauty Turquoise, and ranges from a light to medium blue, occasionally with pyrite inclusions, giving it a bit of sparkle. A lovely, hard stone with beautiful color, Campitos is a favorite for jewelry artisans. The mine as we know it today has been producing since the 1980's.Â
HandMade in Santa Fe, NM since 1987.

The Cerrillos Turquoise mine is a turquoise mine located in the Cerrillos Hills, 20 miles southwest of Santa Fe, New Mexico. It is one of the oldest and most important turquoise mines in North America.
The Cerrillos Hills have been mined for turquoise since at least the 12th century. The turquoise from Cerrillos was prized by the Ancestral Puebloans, who used it to make jewelry and other objects. The Spanish also mined turquoise in Cerrillos, and the mine was active until the early 20th century.
The Cerrillos Turquoise mine is a open-pit mine. The turquoise is found in veins that run through the sandstone. The turquoise is mined by hand and then sorted by quality. The best turquoise is used to make jewelry, while the lower-quality turquoise is used for other purposes, such as making paint.
The Cerrillos Turquoise mine is a popular tourist destination. Visitors can tour the mine and learn about the history of turquoise mining in Cerrillos. The mine is also a popular spot for rockhounds, who come to search for turquoise.
Handmade in Santa Fe, NM since 1987.

Tyrone Turquoise
Turquoise mining in the Burro Mountains near Silver City, New Mexico, has been going on since pre-historic times. The Tyrone mine produced great quantities of hard, deep and bright turquoise as well as pale spring green turquoise.  "Turquoise John" or John Coleman, is credited with the modern unearthing of Turquoise in this area. It is said he discovered some of the old mining activities while he was on a hunting trip in 1875. Research resulted in the discovery of the ancient excavations.
The mine hasn't produced any turquoise since the 80's. This turquoise is highly collectible.
Hand Made in Santa Fe, NM. since 1987.
